Walking Home

I love walking Ryan home from school.

Hearing his little stories
holding his hand
walking along.

Today he was the appointed "leader" of his class. An extraordinary event in the daily life of a 5-year old. He insisted on wearing his crown all the way home. We received many curious glances on this particularly fine day.

Can you see the Godzilla beside his name? Yes. That is indeed a Godzilla.

It's late September.
Sunny.
25 degrees.
And the light is so warm and beautiful.

Happy September! Hope you are having a fine day!

I like Ryan's crown. He looks very regal and 'in charge' LOL. Once when my niece was around 3, I put her in a stroller and we went for a stroll around the neighbourhood. She insisted on wearing a pair of humongous sunglasses (like Elton John wore in the 1970s) on our trip. We definitely raised some eyebrows that day and a heard many "hellos." I tell you, when you are in the company of a child, you can join in on the fun without feeling silly. I think I would have had a different reaction from passerby's, if I had been the one wearing those over-sized sunglasses :D

p.s.
I noticed that you are reading "A Thousand Splendid Suns"...It is fantastic and sad...so sad...but so very moving as well. Khaled Hosseini is a remarkable writer.

Did you read Kite Runner as well? I loved that book.

I can't put this one down. He is such a masterful storyteller!

Yes, I read Kite Runner as well. After I was done reading Kite Runner, I wanted to just keep reading but the book was over. Then I reserved "A Thousand Splendid Suns" from the library and waited a long time before it became available. They are turning that one into a movie as well.
