The Stars

Right now, I am really loving this song - California Stars by Wilco and Billy Bragg. This laid back melody always makes me feel good. I hope it makes you feel good too :)

We had a very busy weekend (when is a weekend not ever busy?). I've included a few shots I took at Cherry Beach (the stars were definitely in alignment, as I was actually at the beach for the entire 15 minutes of sunshine we had). These were really difficult pictures to take as it was incredibly windy and my ranuculus were blowing all over the place (not to mention my crazy hair whipping about with no ponytail holder). I had to move fast, but it was worth the mad dash out there.

I'm now off to hunt through my pile of cookbooks. I'm hosting book club tomorrow evening and have no idea what to make. If you have any awesome recipes (I'll be serving a group of 8 girls) please do share!

Just got home form night school. I'm sipping some fennel tea and looking at your gorgeous photos!! I love the red flowers with the blue sky backdrop!
In terms of what sort of food to make for your book club gathering, I think finger foods or an antipasto platter are always a good way to go. Like for instance, green and black olives, a block of cheese, cherry tomatoes, hummus dip, bread sticks, pickles, sliced prosciutto or capicolo deli meats...or perhaps an English tea theme: little sandwiches with cucumber and cream cheese, scones, butter and jam, tea - of course, an assortment of salty and sweet biscuits, etc. Here's a tasty recipe for hummus which I have made before. Have fun!!

Homemade Hummus

Very easy, this is great to serve at a party or as a snack. Serve in a bowl surrounded by warmed pita bread or toasts and raw vegetables.

INGREDIENTS:
1 can chick peas
1 (or 2) clove garlic chopped
2 -4 teaspoons olive oil
1 pinch salt and pepper
¼ cup tahini (optional)
lemon juice of 1 lemon

DIRECTIONS:
1. Blend ingredients in a food processor or blender until fairly smooth.

2. Serve with warmed pita bread and raw vegetables.

C - I had to share this spooky recipe with you. What a great way to get children to eat more beans! I know one of my nieces would love this presentation, she's a huge Spiderman fan :)
